A REPRINT of A Cat Called Smokey has been relaunched to help Winchester Churches Nightshelter and Trinity Winchester.

Last year sales of the book raised over £1,500 for Winchester Young Carers.

The problem of homelessness is going to increase sharply as winter approaches, so now Smokey has offered to help again. Homelessness is Winchester Rotary president Richard Spalding’s charity this year.

Smokey’s creator Diana Brooks, herself a Winchester Rotarian and illustrator Allen Edwards (a former Rotarian), accompanied by Richard and past president Nick Bell took 200 copies to each charity last Wednesday, October 28.

Smokey is a well-travelled cat – his story is already in Australia, Africa and France – he has told Diana he loves new places! The book, aimed at children from three to seven years, tells Smokey’s story – he is a three-legged cat who relies on his family and friends for help.

The price is £8 (£10 to include post and packing). Winchester Rotary can arrange free delivery in and around Winchester. There is a card inside each copy outlining the inspiration for the book.
