For over 130 days now, Pepsi-Cola the senior cat has been searching for a forever home. Not one single person has come to the shelter to meet her, and she’s starting to get lonely.

In another video, the Australian Animal Protection Society highlighted senior cats and every single one of them has been adopted—except for Pepsi. This sweet girl was found as a stray and has FIV, feline immunodeficiency virus. This means she can only be around other cats who have the virus since it is highly contagious.

This girl may be shy at first, but she warms up quickly. She loves rubbing her head on people and just melts when the shelter workers go in to socialize with her.

Pepsi is an incredibly sweet cat, and we just wish someone would visit the shelter and sweep her off her paws. She’s so deserving of a home for the holidays!

Adopting Senior Cats

Adopting a senior cat is a great idea and can bring major joy into your household. One great reason for adopting a senior cat is that they require less supervision than a younger cat or kitten. You can trust that they know right from wrong, and they can be left alone without having to worry about things in the house getting destroyed.

Another way adopting a senior cat is a good idea is that they already have their personalities developed and the shelter can help pair you with the best cat for you. Adopting a kitten may bring about some surprises, but a senior cat is much more predictable.

When it comes to adoption fees, senior cats are typically less expensive to adopt than a kitten or a younger cat. But that doesn’t mean that they have any less love to give! If anything, senior cats will be even more eternally grateful for you opening your home to them.

Every year, about 3.2 million cats enter an animal shelter by no fault of their own. It can be a scary place for a cat to be, especially if they are shy or skittish. Adopting a senior cat like Pepsi will bring ultimate comfort to the cat.

Getting your home ready for a shelter cat is a lot of fun, also! You can pick out their bed, scratching posts, and even get them a big cat tree for when they come home. Senior cats love to lounge all day, but when given the opportunity, will play just as hard as a kitten!
