Want to know if your cat loves you? Here are 10 tell-tale signs your adorable pet cat thinks you’re great.

 1. When they groom you…

If your cute cat likes to groom you, this is a good sign they love you. They are seeing you as part of their family!

2. When they bite you…

They do say love hurts – but this one is more like a pinch. Kittens and cats often show affection by play – which includes biting. For the owners, these sharp teeth can hurt, but try not to react badly, as your cat could become confused, try and avert the attention elsewhere instead.

3. Cats eye contact gives away a lot

Cats often find eye contact threatening, so if they hold eye contact with you, they feel safe. If they slowly blink at you – this is a sign of love.

4. Head boops

One of the more well known signs of affection, cats mark their territory using the scent glands on their cheeks and head. When they head butt (or head boop!) against you, they are saying you are theirs. How lovely.

5. When your cat brings you presents

Okay – so not of us really enjoy being gifted with rats, but this is your cats way of training you to hunt. They are basically assuming you’re a family member that needs to be taught how to catch their prey.

6. Cats tail

A cat’s tail can tell you a lot about how they are feeling. But if the tail is up high, it means they like you!

7. Meowing

Did you know, cats don’t actually meow to each other, only their human owners? They use it more or less solely to communicate with us, and much like humans – they won’t speak if they don’t like you! So meowing can be a sign of love and friendly behaviour.

8. Kneading

While there are a number of theories as to why cats knead, experts are of the opinion it is kitten behaviour and they are trying to stimulate their mother’s milk flow. So when they practice this habit on you, it is likely to indicate they are accepting you as one of their own.

9. When your cat sleeps with you

Cats do not like to feel vulnerable, so if they are sleeping alongside you, on your lap or just around you – they love you and feel comfortable around you.

10. Cat butt

Similar to dogs, cats identify each other by scent – so butt sniffing is similar to a hello, or a handshake. A tail to the face is a sign that they see you as one of their most loved and trusted.
