The most popular Aussie pet names of 2022 have been revealed, with plenty of surprises in the top 10 trending dog and cat names.
According to Pet Insurance Australia, the most common monikers given to pets born this year included longtime favourites Luna, Bella and Archie.
For dogs, there were some new entries though — with Ziggy and Murphy making an appearance in the top 10 list for the first time.
When it came to cats, some of the more interesting names included Chino, Angel and Biscuit.
The data showed old-fashioned human names continued to dominate, with the likes of Daisy, Winnie, Audrey, Sam and Charlie all making the cut.
“These names are for pets born in 2022, so it gives us a really good snapshot of the current trending names Australians are choosing to name their beloved fur babes,” Pet Insurance Australia’s Nadia Crighton says.
“It’s great to see some classic names topping the lists alongside some unique choices, while some names are clearly making a comeback in 2022.”
